Graphic Design, Web Design
Context: As a personal passion project, I designed the website for "How to Take Over the World," a podcast that tells the stories and analyzes the lives of the greatest men and women to ever live. My deep interest in history, motivation, and the strategies and tactics of influential individuals led me to this project. The podcast examines the mindset and work habits of these great people, helping listeners understand them so they can follow in their footsteps. Discussing figures from Julius Caesar to Steve Jobs, and everyone in between, this podcast serves as both a history lesson and a motivational guide.
The design process for this personal project was heavily influenced by the bold, ambitious graphical language of the podcast. The website features a fully black theme, dark red colors, and a striking main viewport visual of Atlas from mythology in his famous pose carrying the world. This bold and dramatic design reflects the podcast's theme of ambition and greatness.
The main viewport went through multiple design iterations, each exploring different ways to visually represent the podcast's theme. The final design features a striking visual of Atlas, symbolizing the podcast's exploration of individuals.
The website includes a "People" section, showcasing the individuals examined in the podcast. The section features graphical representations of figures like Julius Caesar, Steve Jobs, and Alexander the Great, but with a unique twist - they are depicted as sculptures, adding a timeless quality that echoes the enduring impact of these individuals.
Each individual featured in the "People" section has a dedicated page on the website. These pages provide detailed information about the individual, including their attributes as curated by Ben Wilson, the host of the podcast. Each page also includes links to the podcast episodes that discuss the individual, along with episode descriptions.
